Cowboys win second game in a row to end season

Senior Jordan Reay's run for Camp Verde High School was cut short by two Lee Williams High School defenders in the Cowboys' home loss Oct. 3. Reay finished with nearly 1,900 career rushing yards as the Cowboys won at Willcox High School to finish 3-7.

Bodie Holowell’s three-yard pass to Dylan Dacuycuy on fourth down and goal lifted Camp Verde High School to its second straight win, 31-26, at Willcox High School in the final football game in the careers of both players.

Holowell would throw five touchdown passes Friday, Oct. 31, including a third-quarter strike for 18 yards to fellow senior Jordan Reay, whose 50 yards rushing gave him 708 yards for the season — second-most in Section VII — and 1,891 for his career.

“Jordan is really going to be tough to replace with his speed,” Steve Darby, Cowboys head coach, said of Reay, who would also have 17 unassisted tackles to lead the team defensively. “Really good athletes of his caliber don’t come along too often.”

Holowell overcame a dismal first half to complete 16 of 27 passes for 273 yards as CVHS [3-7] avenged a five-point loss at home to Willcox in last season’s finale.
