The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors officially declared a county emergency following severe heavy rainfall and widespread flooding that began on Sunday, Nov. 1. The county has announced temporary relief measures for affected residents, according to Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Communications Manager David McAtee.
Under a proclamation signed by Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman Brooks Compton [R-District 1], the county will offer free flood debris disposal at all county transfer stations from Wednesday, Nov. 4, to Monday, Nov. 30, and a waiver of demolition permit fees for flood-impacted structures to support community recovery efforts.
“Our primary focus is providing immediate support to our residents as they clean up and rebuild,” Compton said. “Offering free debris disposal and demolition permits ensures our communities can recover safely and efficiently without added financial burden.”
Demolition permit fees will be waived for structures directly affected by recent flooding, as determined by the development services director. Property owners planning structural demolition due to flood damage should contact Yavapai County Development Services prior to beginning work to verify eligibility by calling 928-771-3214.
