Robert V. Groat, 77, of Cottonwood, died July 3.
A local architectural designer, he served in the U.S. Army and moved to Sedona in 1974. Over the years he designed many luxury homes and businesses throughout the area, including Sinagua Plaza and the award-winning Desert Hills Bank, now Flagstar, in Sedona. He loved the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, and traveling to new places.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Lake.
He is survived by his daughters, Amy Sloper and Hylah McGrane; stepdaughter Emily Amini and brother Dorman.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
