Leslie Horton, director of Yavapai County Community Health Services, provided the following information about three people in Yavapai County, including two in Sedona, who have tested positive for COVID-19:
The first Sedona case is a man in his 70s.
Further info a second Sedona case will be forthcoming.
The first Prescott case in a senior citizen, YCCHS is completing the investigation for anyone who may have had contact with him or her. Horton did not provide any further details about the patient.
There are 152 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Arizona. Maricopa is up to 81 cases, Pima 17, Pinal 16, Coconino 14, Navajo 13, Apache 3, Yavapai 3, Graham 2, and Yuma 1.
There have been 408 people have been tested statewide, with 282 ruled out, 87 cases pending.
Providers doing testing for COVID-19 include:
- Northern Arizona Healthcare Verde Valley Medical Center, in Cottonwood
- Spectrum Healthcare –Verde Valley and Prescott
- Yavapai Regional Medical Center campuses
- Thumb Butte Medical Center
- Yavapai County Community Health Services locations in Cottonwood , Prescott and Prescott Valley
- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs campus in Prescott
- Yavapai Pediatrics
Clinics will screen people first to determine if their symptoms may be the flu, strep or something else; they also should have a referral from a doctor. Other factors include people who are in high-risk categories, such as senior citizens.
Horton said there is still a “severe shortage of swabs.” The more providers who can do testing the better off the communities will be. “We do not have enough providers doing testing,” she said. “We are hindered here that not a lot of providers are doing testing.”
There has been a second death in Arizona from COVID-19.
