The Cottonwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post7400 and American Legion Post 25 held a joint spring bazaar on May 16 and 17 at the VFW post in Cottonwood.
“We invited 20 vendors to come set up for Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said event organizer Sara Prichett, a 21-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran, adding that the event grew out of the two organizations’ desire to raise funds and increase their visibility in the community and that the money raised would benefit their veterans’ emergency fund.
Vendors at the bazaar offered American Indian jewelry, walking sticks, gemstones, artwork and photographs. Award-winning photographer Dagny Pritchett, whose work has appeared in Arizona Highways, was offering wildlife photos.
“A couple of these are from Out of Africa,” said Dagny Pritchett, who is the youngest auxiliary member of the VFW post. “I’ve done a photo work-shop with them and the rest of them are just in the wild encountering things.”
“Our goal is to possibly do this at least annually, and if not, maybe spring and fall,” Sara Prichett said of the event, which was the first since the COVID-19pandemic response.
