Come along and ride with the Verde Valley Medical Center.

The hospital in Cottonwood is inviting everyone to come take a “Fantastic Voyage” of exploration of the human body this weekend, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the hospital’s outpatient lobby at 269 S. Candy Lane.

The event ostensibly gets its name from the old movie where scientists get shrunken down to save an injured man from the inside out.

It’s less likely the event gets its name from the Coolio song, though both voyages are arguably just as fantastic.

It’s part of the Verde Valley SciTech Festival, now in its second year here.

The Verde Valley SciTech Festival is set for the end March and designed to showcase science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM education, right here at home.

It includes groups like the Verde River Valley Nature Organization, the Cottonwood police and fire department, the National Park Service, Mingus Union High School, Yavapai College and the event at Verde Valley Medical Center.
