No matter how happy the Clarkdale-Jerome School head boys basketball coach Rudy Sandoval was Saturday, Jan. 31, following his team’s third straight Verde Valley League tournament title, he wouldn’t allow himself to call for a “four-peat.”

“I’m just going to live this one up, right guys?” he said to his A team after they dismantled Big Park Community School, 47-28. “One’s tough to get. Two, three, you get it. But this was the one I wanted.”

“At practice, he said, ‘After we three-peat, we’re going to four-peat,’” said center Colton Sorenson, who scored 19 points against the Coyotes on his way to being named the Most Valuable Player of the two-day tournament at Cottonwood Middle School. “He’s already setting up for next year.”
