Cowboys hoops teams reboot for final homestand

Gerlaura Vaughn, No. 24, looks for fellow senior guard Gabby Ontiveros, No. 10, or another open teammate to pass to at Camp Verde High School as she is crowded by the Glendale High School defense. The Cowboys defeated the Cardinals at home Friday, Jan. 16.

Rivalry wins over Sedona Red Rock High School on Jan. 13 were not quite enough to get Camp Verde High School into its final homestand unscathed.

The Cowboys girls basketball team suffered its first setback in its quest for Arizona Interscholastic Association power points, while the boys team were held to three points less in losses Saturday, Jan. 17, at Valley Christian High School.

The girls scored a season-low 35 in a 22-point loss at the Crusaders — the top-ranked team in Division IV — while the boys suffered their second straight setback, 80-32, at Valley Christian.
