The Cottonwood Police Department has received a grant from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security to enhance its capabilities to operate dispatch services.

The $81,000 grant will be used to purchase new broadband radios, night-vision equipment and devices to assist firefighters’ breathing.

“This round of funding will be used to significantly enhance the department’s radio communications capabilities,” according to a report from Cottonwood Police Chief Jody Fanning’s office.

Acceptance of the grant was approved by the Cottonwood City Council at its regular meeting July 1.
