Shiloh Tichi used to work as a secretary at a pest control business.
These days, instead of focusing on a business that keeps bugs dead, Tichi focuses on keeping things alive, at least for a little while.
Tichi runs a florist shop off of Cove Parkway with her mother, Carol.
Flowers Unlimited has been in its current location for about eight years, Tichi said, ever since they bought the place from former proprietor, Sherry Johnston.
Tichi said that both she and her mother had zero experience with flowers before they got into the business.
Fortunately, Tichi said that Johnston helped teach her the ways of flower arranging at the beginning of the process.
Tishi’s favorite flower is the gardenia.
While Tichi enjoys working with the flowers, which come from a Phoenix supplier and prior to that around the world, her mother tends to prefer managing the business end of the floral shop.
Tichi said she became aware of the opportunity when Johnston happened to be a customer at her boyfriend Gary’s pest control business.
Johnston happened to mention that she was looking to sell the business, Gary told Tichi and the rest was history.
“I dragged my mom along,” Tichi laughed.
Tichi said that Johnston was ready to get out of the business and even more ready to get back to Colorado.
While Tichi said she enjoys working with the flowers, she also enjoys dealing with weddings.
“I like talking to the brides,” Tichi said.
The wedding business seems to be doing pretty well in the Verde Valley, Tichi said.
