The Camp Verde Town Council unanimously approved contracting a retainer agreement with the Fountain Hills firm Interim Public Management to provide options for an interim town manager at its regular meeting on July 15.
Camp Verde Town Manager Miranda Fisher resigned July 9, with her last day being July 15. Fisher’s departure comes just over two years after she took the position.
“After much reflection on the next chapter of my personal and professional life, including the upcoming arrival of my first child and where my family plans to establish long-term roots, I recently approached the Town Council to discuss a future leadership transition,” Fisher stated in a letter she sent to local town managers on July 9. “While my original proposal offered a one-year notice — effective date June 30, 2027 — following discussions with the Council on July 8th, it was determined that July 15th, would be the appropriate effective date for my resignation.
“Between now and the end of the business day on July 15th, I will be focused on transitioning my duties and responsibilities to ensure continuity of operations. Finance Director Mike Showers is serving as acting town manager effective July 9th and will remain in the role while the Town Council works to identify a long-term interim town manager and ultimately the recruitment and selection of the next town manager.”
Following the council’s acceptance of her resignation, members discussed the next steps for finding an interim town manager. The town already has a contract in place with Interim Public Management.
Town Attorney Jon Paladini said the next step is to enter a retainer agreement with IPM.
At a fee of $2,500, IPM’s candidate search proposal will provide three resumes of people who are interested in the position, as well as access to over 200 prequalified and vetted interim managers. The council will then decide if it wants to interview any of the three selected candidates.
