Just after noon on Monday, June 23, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call that a 73-year-old man had allegedly shot his 82-year-old wife at their home in Cornville.
The man then allegedly stated he was planning on killing himself next, YCSO stated. As deputies attempted to contact him, YCSO called out SWAT and a negotiating team. Unable to reach him, the SWAT Team then entered the home.
Both the man and his wife were discovered deceased. Initial investigation revealed that the man wanted to kill his wife and then himself due to their health.
“YCSO extends our condolences to the family and community of both individuals,” YCSO posted to Facebook. YCSO did not provide the location nor the names of the deceased.
