The Clarkdale Town Council approved the final budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year last week.

The council also set tax rates following a public hearing at its June 22 meeting.

“This is the last thing we have to do,” said Kathy Bainbridge, finance director and town clerk of the town of Clarkdale.

The fiscal year in Arizona begins each July 1 and runs through Tuesday, June 30.

The tax levy was set at just under $422,500, a slight increase over the 2013-14 fiscal year.

Assessed property value in the town was also slightly up by 3 percent at a little less than $28.1 million.

The ultimate result is that the tax rate was set slightly lower for the 2014-15 fiscal year at 1.5739 percent, down from 1.6 percent the previous fiscal year.

“We also have a budget that’s 14.52 percent less than last year,” Bainbridge said.

The entire approved budget includes around $17.4 million in projected spending for the year.

The budget for the previous year was around $20.3 million.

Bainbridge attributed much of the decrease to capital projects that were completed last year, including the new wastewater treatment plant. New for Clarkdale, anyway.
