Clarkdale rejects resolution for Yavapai College

By Michael Rinker

Clarkdale officials decided not to follow in the footsteps of their counterparts in Sedona and Camp Verde, opting against a proposed resolution calling for greater communication and collaboration between Verde Valley communities and Yavapai College.

City Council voted 4-1 at its July 22 meeting to reject the resolution. Bill Regner, who placed the item on the agenda, dissented.

He then removed the following agenda item, which was to be a discussion of the role of the town’s liaison to the college.

Mayor Doug Von Gausig said the school, which has a campus in Clarkdale, has done right by the town.

“Clarkdale is in a very, very fortunate position in regard to Yavapai College,” he said Monday, July 28. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense to complain.”
