Council mulls Lakes transit ideas

“It’s something Camp Verde needs to think about.” - Bruce George Camp Verde Town Councilman
Zack Garcia/Larson Newspapers

Camp Verde Councilman Bruce George wants to brainstorm ideas about possibly providing transportation options to residents in the Verde Lakes area, home to around 3,000 people.
The area is distant from the center of town and other areas in the Verde Valley, particularly for people without transportation in a community with no real taxi service.

George said he had looked at a recent Verde Valley bus route set up by the Yavapai-Apache Nation and thought that perhaps people in Verde Lakes may need to get to the Nation’s land or elsewhere.

The Yavapai-Apache Nation used federal funding to establish a route that links the reservation in Camp Verde with the one in Clarkdale. It also makes several stops in Camp Verde and Cottonwood, including the Yavapai County Courthouse.
