Cowboys coach not happy with his team’s victory

The Camp Verde Middle School baseball team beat state contender Big Park on Thursday, April 11, at home, but Head Coach Spencer Young didn’t think they played to their potential.

The Cowboys claimed a 7-4 victory over the Coyotes, and with only two losses so far this season the Cowboys are in good shape for the playoffs; but Young expects his team to play at their best in every game, and didn’t feel like they did that against the Coyotes.

“Well I don’t think it was a big success to be honest with you. We got a win, but I don’t think we played all that well,” Young said. “Pitchers were having trouble throwing strikes and hitters were getting the ball up in the air, and when the wind is blowing against you, the ball just hangs up there in the air. All in all, we did what we had to do to win, but it wasn’t a great performance.

“These kids are really good ball players and we’ve had great games. This one just wasn’t one of our better ones.”

High gusts of wind swept through the diamond all throughout the game.
