Boxers bob and weave to win Down and Dirty II

Boxers got down and dirty in Cottonwood.

Richard Williams of Cottonwood boxing club Golden Cobra hosted Down and Dirty II on Saturday, June 23.

“It was a good turnout,” Williams said. “We had really good, well-matched fights.”

The event featured 14 boxing matches with fighters ranging from the ages of 9 to 28 years old coming from nine different boxing gyms. Golden Cobra of Cottonwood and Champs Gym of Camp Verde were represented, along with four gyms from Phoenix, and one each from Tucson, Las Vegas and Coachella, Calif.

“Each fight was a close competition,” trainer Juan Munoz said. “Every one of them could have gone either way.”
