The Mingus Union High School District superintendent will be leaving his post effective Thursday, June 30.
At a special meeting of the MUHSD Governing Board on Tuesday, April 5, the board voted to release Superintendent Paul Tighe, Ph.D., from his employment contract, effective June 30.
The board directed Tighe to begin a search process for a new superintendent immediately and requested he draft a proposal to serve the district in a consulting capacity to help with the leadership transition after his employment contract terminates.
Tighe cited personal reasons for his request for release from his contract.
“It is very difficult for me to leave Mingus,” Tighe stated in a press release. “We are blessed with a great staff, great students, and excellent leadership from the Governing Board in an outstanding community.”
Tighe has served as superintendent for the past three years.
Applications for the position will be due Friday, May 6, and information will soon be posted on the district’s website at www.mingusunion.com.
