Six recognized for town spirit

Published:

They won’t be officially recognized with their awards until Clarkdale’s Fourth of July festivities but several people in town have won this year’s Spirit of Clarkdale awards for their efforts in preservation, beautification and volunteerism.

Drake Meinke has again been recognized with his efforts in preservation, running the Arizona Copper Art Museum out of the old Clarkdale High School building in the heart of downtown.

Residents Pam Watts and Cliff Pollay were noted for their work in property beautification while Carol Cain, Carol Engert and John Sherman were given the award for giving their time to enrich the community and help people out.

The Clarkdale Town Council approved the award for the nominated winners at its June 9 meeting.

Anyone can nominate any Clarkdale resident they wish if they think someone really stands out or otherwise deserves some recognition.
