Trio plays Music in the Stacks

Published:

The Camp Verde Community Library’s monthly free Music in the Stacks concert on Thursday, April 10, featured singers Christy Fisher and Mike Greenleaf, as well as drummer Matt Fabritz.

Fisher is a singer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist based in Jerome who has lived in the Verde Valley for more than 30 years. She was recently nominated in four categories at the 2021 International Singer and Songwriters Association in Atlanta, Ga., where she won a silver medal for Female Album of the Year for her album “Mixed Signals.” Fisher has performed with local groups including Mountain Standard Time, Cattywampus, Christy and Frenz, The Jerome Philharmonic Convergence and the Jerome Ukulele Orchestra. Her performances are a combination of award-winning songwriting, audio engineering techniques and powerful vocals, according to a press release. Greenleaf was born in Seattle and has been writing and performing music for over 40 years. His song-writing is influenced by a wide variety of musical styles, at times heartfelt, at times humorous, but deeply personal and intelligent, according to a press release, capturing the genuine experience of everyday reality.

Fabritz has been a musician for more than 15years and also performs in Flagstaff as well as the Verde Valley. “It’s a blast, it’s just fun, especially being around so many talented people, and they make you look good, too,” Fabritz said. He said that he is still I’m pressed by the other singers who come down to Camp Verde to showoff their skills. “I’ll come back at least once a month to this place,” Fabritz said. “Later on I’ll start coming down every once in a while to the open mic night they have, and there’s some good musicians that go to that, too. ”Vita Litvanas of Cottonwood has been coming to the concerts for four years whenever she’s not too busy. “I enjoy the music, it has a good sound and good musicians,” Litvanas said. “When I have time, when it’s possible, I will come.”
