McCarthy writing book about west

Published:

Jenn McCarthy is on an adventure.

Last week, part of that adventure included being on office duty at Dead Horse Ranch State Park, where McCarthy is working as a volunteer and a camp host.

“I greet people and get campers anything they need, like firewood,” McCarthy said.

The job also includes maintenance around the camp and things like the restrooms.

The job is a means to an end.

McCarthy is currently traveling around the West for research on a book she’s got in the works.

The book is planned to be an exploration of the landscape of the West along with a look into some of the stories, often colorful, that have helped shape the region.

“It’s a look at the physical areas and their history,” McCarthy said. “Photos and travel, cowboy and Indian stuff.”

This is McCarthy’s first book.

She’s not planning on it being her last, however.

“I’ve got a few skeleton outlines for the future,” McCarthy said.
