Music lovers listen at library

Published:

The Camp Verde Community Library might be known for books but a new program aims to remind people that there’s a lot more than print for residents to enjoy.
In an effort to offer more programs to attract patrons, the library is kicking off something for music lovers this week.

It’s called the “Listening Post” and it starts Thursday, Sept. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the library, 130 Black Bridge Road, just off Montezuma Castle Highway.

The event invites music-lovers to come and share their tastes and will subsequently meet on the third Thursday of each month, said Gerry Laurito, who works for the library.

“The library hosts book-lover clubs, writers clubs and an e-reader group. It’s time for a group for music-lovers. If you like rock ’n’ roll, you may like jazz. If you are into hip-hop, you may like opera,” Laurito said. “By listening and discussing, we hope to expand our musical horizons in a relaxed and accepting atmosphere.”

Laurito said the new group was the latest in an effort to come up with new offerings from the library.
