Climates drove Martin to the Verde Valley

Published:

Les Martin was spending a Thursday afternoon last week around the corner from his Camp Verde home, chatting with a few guys working in a local garage that specializes in old Volkswagens.

Martin doesn’t work at the shop, he drives trucks for a living.

Gesturing toward Copper Canyon, Martin said he’s been involved in some of the work going on up there where the Arizona Department of Transportation has been working to expand Interstate 17 with a climbing lane primarily for the large trucks, which usually have to slowly crawl on the climb out of the Verde Valley.

Martin said his father had also been in the construction busines back in Pennsylvania, where Martin is originally from.
