Expect 30-minute delays on I-17

Published:

Southbound Interstate 17 will be closed for up to 30 minutes intermittently from 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, to 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the State Route 69 junction in Cordes Junction as crews place concrete barriers and restripe the roadway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

There will also be alternating lane closures on both directions of I-17 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday.

The activity is required prior to switching southbound traffic back to the existing roadway just north of the traffic interchange on Thursday. Daytime work hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

The work is part of a $50 million project to reconstruct the I-17/State Route 69 interchange.
