George Harris Verd

George Harris Verd, 82, died June 25.
A 27-year U.S. Navy veteran, he was a retired submarine captain. He managed the project that led to development of Deep Sea Rescue Vehicle technology, and assisted with the Titanic discovery. He worked more than 10 years with hospice, and loved the ocean, travel, photography, roses and people.
He is survived by his wife, Poppy Verd; children George Verd, Julie Jacobson, Betsey Heber, Martha Huie, and Kathryn Verd; stepchildren, Jennifer Mills, Joe Morrissette and Tim Morrissette; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending.
