Jerry E. Cross, 82, of Cottonwood, died March 9.

A U.S. Marine Corp. veteran, he worked in mining and mine supervision, managed Phelps Dodge exploration and operations, and later worked for the State of Arizona in mine inspection.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Annette, son Gerald and sister Sharon.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter Sharyl; and nephews and nieces.
