Man arrested for 7 a.m. arson

Rodin Michael McLeod

The Cottonwood Fire Department and the Cottonwood Police Department responded to a residential structure fire in the area of North 15th Street and East Apache Street on Sept. 22, at 7:45 a.m.

“First responders arrived quickly to the scene, and all occupants of the building successfully evacuated the structure unharmed,” CPD stated. “While Cottonwood Fire personnel actively worked to extinguish the flames, Cottonwood Police officers located a male subject nearby watching the incident.”

Rodin Michael McLeod, 37, “voluntarily stated to officers that he had intentionally started the fire to watch it burn,” CPD stated.

Following the fire’s suppression, CFD and CPD processed the scene and reportedly found evidence that corroborated McLeod’s confession.
