Robert “Bob” Brown Gillies Jr.,89, died surrounded by his family on Sept. 19, 2026, in Tempe.
He was born in Denver on Sept. 12, 1937. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and the Reserves and spent 35 years with the U.S. Forest Service, with 23 years as district ranger for both the Beaver Creek and Red Rock ranger districts.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Elvia, in 2020.
He is survived by his children, Paul, Ben [Kelly], and Linda [Steve]; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, his faithful dog Turk, friends, colleagues and family members.
Viewing is Thursday, Oct. 1, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home 1013 E. Mingus Ave. Cottonwood. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 700 N. Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood.
