YCSO arrests 21-year-old for stabbing

Makaylien Lee Knight, 21, was arrested by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office on the morning of Tuesday, July 21, for allegedly stabbing a 55-year-old man the previous afternoon at a residence on North Old Pumphouse Road in Cornville.

Deputies responded at 5:42 p.m. on Monday, July 20, and Knight has been charged in Yavapai County Superior Court with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“During the attack, she [allegedly] pepper-sprayed the male and stabbed him multiple times,” YCSO spokesman Paul Wick wrote. “The victim reportedly yelled for help and fled to a property down the road to seek immediate assistance. Responding deputies quickly located the injured victim, but Knight had already fled the area. The male victim sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Flagstaff for emergency treatment. At this time, medical personnel expect him to recover from his injuries.”

“Initial investigations indicate that a dispute occurred between the female suspect and a 55-year-old male, who was allowed to stay on the property, when the female suspect [allegedly] attacked him inside the home in Cornville,” Wick wrote.

The investigation is ongoing.
