The Mingus Union High School District Governing Board unanimously approved its 2026-2029 strategic plan during its meeting on Thursday, April 9.
The strategic plan, which has been in discussion since January, has four areas of focus for: Student achievement, climate and culture, engagement and partnerships and financial responsibility.
According to the strategic plan, the district will, begin administering audits to all resources with a significant cost, such as the Advancement Via Individual Determination program, by July.
Staff will track the training, cost and efficacy of each program and evaluate it by 2029 on whether it’s a priority.
This year, the district has been gathering data on student achievement, including class work, testing and English Language Learner placements.
The plan, which is available on the Governing Board’s website, outlines goals for each school year through 2029 to get MUHS’ student graduation rates, English learning improvements and academic growth at or above state averages and continue to grow availability of advanced courses.
The strategic plan sets a goal for students to report a 20% higher “feeling of safety” by 2029 by tracking office referrals and studying youth risk behavior. It also provides targets for students to be more participatory in schoolwide activities and sports, and certified staff to be engaged in professional development.
The plan’s last focus area includes partnerships, which means having greater engagement and conversations with parents and guardians of students.
This includes recognizing achievements via its quarterly newsletter.
The criteria for the recognitions is yet to be decided on, and will be discussed by the administration now the plan is approved.
