Camp Verde Parks and Recreation has opened registration for the youth Grasshopper Basketball League, open to boys and girls in fifth through eighth grades. Co-ed teams will practice once a week and play games on Saturday mornings. The goal is to have fun, learn the basic skills of basketball and develop teamwork. The player evaluation and draft will take place on Jan. 6 at the Community Center Gym and all registered players should attend. Everyone who registers will be placed with a team. The six-week season will start on Jan. 18, and will conclude with a tournament in March. Each player will receive a uniform T-shirt and a participation medal

Registration costs $40 per child, with a $5 discount for additional siblings. Scholarships are available thanks to the Camp Verde Kiwanis Club. The registration deadline is Dec. 30, with late registration available until Jan. 5 for an additional $5 if space is available. Register online at https://campverde.sportsites.com/player.
If you do not have the ability to register online, please stop by the Parks and Recreation office at 395 S. Main Street. Volunteer coaches are needed, and no prior experience is required.
