$1,000 reward offered for Backus

Published:

Yavapai County law enforcement agencies are asking for help in locating fugitive Timothy Backus.

In March 2018, Backus was found guilty of sexual abuse and attempted molestation of a child. He was sentenced to a prison term and was released in May 2023. Upon his release, Backus was placed on lifetime standard probation and was required to register as a sex offender. Backus has failed to comply with the terms and conditions of his probation and a felony warrant has been issued for his arrest.

His whereabouts are unknown, and his prior addresses are in Cottonwood. Backus is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has multiple tattoos.

If you provide information leading to the arrest of Timothy Backus, you could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward from Yavapai Silent Witness’ Catch 22 program. To earn your reward, you must call Yavapai Silent Witness at 1 (800) 932-3232 or submit a tip at yavapaisw.com. All calls are completely anonymous. You never have to give your name.
