The Cottonwood Police Department, supported by the Verde Valley Regional Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Yavapai College Police Department, executed a search warrant at a apartment block located in the 900 block of E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into the possession of alleged illicit internet materials.
Justin Schexnayder, 29, and Antonio Schexnayder, 35, were arrested and are facing felony charges related to the possession and sale of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.
“This operation was the result of diligent investigative work and interagency collaboration,” CPD Sgt. Cody Savage stated in a press release. “Upon executing the search warrant, detectives discovered and confiscated usable quantities of methamphetamine along with related drug paraphernalia. Moreover, multiple electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, and computers were seized for further examination.”
“Given the nature of the initial investigation, additional charges concerning the alleged illicit internet materials are pending,” Savage stated. “These potential charges will be determined upon the completion of a thorough forensic analysis of the electronic devices, which were seized under the authority of the search warrant.”
Both Schexnayders are being held at the Yavapai County Detention Center in Camp Verde as the investigation continues.
“The Cottonwood Police Department remains committed to the safety of our community and the enforcement of the law,” Savage stated. “We thank our partnering agencies for their cooperation and support in this matter.”
