Born in Salt Lake City and raised in Missoula, Mont., she worked as a licensed practical nurse and spent the last 20 years in Cottonwood.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald McVay, of Missoula; niece, Susannah McVay-Ries, of Missoula; and nephew, Colin McVay, of Philomath, Ore.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
