The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a pavement preservation project along State Route 89A in Cottonwood expected to begin this summer and be completed in early 2024 from milepost 353 — 1500 east Cottonwood Steet/State Route 89A — to milepost 356, immediately easy of the Bridgeport Bridge.
The project will:
- Remove the existing top layer of asphalt and replace it with new pavement.
- Install new sidewalks, driveways, sidewalk ramps and handrails that are in compliance with current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
- Remove and install new pedestrian push buttons on traffic signal posts that are in compliance with current ADA standards.
- Install new concrete curb and gutter.
While the project is underway, motorists will encounter daytime lane restrictions and should plan for possible delays. Work will occur from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Hours subject to change as daylight hours change.A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open on SR 89A during construction.
No work is anticipated to occur on weekends or holidays. ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers (see “Stay Informed” section on how to subscribe) and on the project web page.
