Teen boy’s body found on Interstate 17 at Arena Del Loma

A 16-year old boy was found deceased on Interstate 17 under the Arena Del Loma overpass Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 9:10 p.m. after having been missing for several hours, according to the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, at approximately 7:45 p.m. the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office received a call from concerned parents who resided in the 1500 block of Boothill in Camp Verde regarding their 16-year old son being overdue from an outing.

Parents told CVMO their son left the residence at approximately 5:45 P.M. for a short ride on his dirt bike, which he has done on many occasions.

With the assistance from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, CVMO began a search.

At approximately 9:10 P.M. the boywas found next to the northbound roadway on Interstate 17, under the Arena Del Loma overpass with apparently fatal injuries.

Shortly after finding the boy, searchers checked the area and found the dirt bike he had been riding approximately 100 yards to the east of the overpass on Arena Del Loma.

The boy was transported to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s Office for examination and possible determination of the cause of death. A thorough investigation is currently being conducted by CVMO detectives and Yavapai Medical Examiner’s Office.

At this time, no final ruling has been determined as to the manner and cause in the death. There is no immediate hazard or threat to the community.
