Over 1,000 affected by power outage in Cottonwood

Over 1,000 homes and businesses are being impacted by a power outage in Cottonwood on Monday, June 21.

According to APS, power in the area went out due to an unknown service interruption of a major power line around 2 p.m.

Approximately 1,370 customers have been affected by the outage from Cottonwood Street to Quail Springs Substation and from Chuckwalla to State Route 260. Several businesses in the area have closed their doors until the power returns, including Walmart. 

Field personnel are currently working to determine the cause of the outage and restore power to the community. APS estimates that power will be back by around 4:40 p.m.
