The Cottonwood Police Department, with assistance of the Verde Valley SWAT, arrested Roberto Alejandro Tirado on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 9, after Tirado had been identified but the Yavapai County Silent Witness program, helping them find suspects with outstanding warrants.
The Cottonwood Police Department released the following details:
Over the last several days the Cottonwood Police Department has been receiving information from residents in the community regarding the whereabouts of one of the Yavapai Silent Witness Catch 22 suspects. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Robeto Alejandro Tirado, reported at 1737 Sawmill Road in Cottonwood.
CPD investigators began conducting surveillance on the location in an attempt to confirm the information.
Once confirmed, police investigators obtained a search warrant for this address to apprehend Tirado.
On Feb. 9, Cottonwood officers along with the Verde Valley SWAT went to the address to serve the search warrant.
The Negotiations Team made several attempts to get Tirado to comply with the officers and exit his residence.
Tirado allegedly refused all of the requests and after over an hour of failed negotiation attempts, a police K-9 was deployed to assist in the apprehension.
With the police K-9’s assistance, SWAT officers made the arrest.
Tirado was treated on scene for minor injuries and later transported the Yavapai County Detention Ceneter in Camp Verde for holding. During the search of the residence police investigators located several swords.This created additional felony charges due to Tirado being a prohibited possessor.
Tirado was booked on a nationwide extraditable probation violation warrant which stemmed from a conviction of disorderly conduct with a weapon and child abuse per domesticRobert. The charges originated from the Prescott Valley area. The bond amount on this warrant was listed at $25,000.
Yavapai County had on Jan. 6 asked for help in locating Tirado, with the following release:
“$500 REWARD
Charges: Nationwide extraditable Probation Violation Warrant stemming from convictions of Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon and Child Abuse Per Domestic Violence.
Description: 30-year-old white male, born Dec. 28, 1990, with black (sometimes dyed) hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 152 pounds with multiple tattoos to include one on his neck. His last known address was in Prescott Valley.
It’s day six of Yavapai Silent Witness’ CATCH 22 Program. Today Yavapai County Law Enforcement is asking for your help in locating fugitive Roberto Alejandro Tirado. On June 4, 2020, the Prescott Valley Police were notified by a representative of the Arizona Department of Child Safety in reference to a possible case of child abuse.
During the investigation, the detective learned that Tirado had allegedly abused a 3-year-old autistic child at their residence in Prescott Valley. The child had bruising and a bite mark in his groin area. Witness testimony and a confession allegedly confirmed that Tirado was had bitten the child. Tirado reportedly claimed he gave the bruises to the child while playing with him. Tirado was convicted and placed on probation.
In a separate incident on Aug. 3, 2020, Tirado allegedly became angry and assaulted the mother of the child in the above case by pushing her against a wall with force.
Tirado then allegedly grabbed her by the shoulders and bit her on the nose. The victim locked herself in her bathroom. Tirado allegedly forced his way into the bathroom and threatened her with a knife allegedly saying, “I’ll make it look like suicide.” Tirado was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon Per Domestic Violence and his probation from the Child Abuse incident was revoked. He now has a nationwide extraditable warrant with a $25,000 bond.
