Cottonwood and Clarkdale Schools close due to snow

Published:

Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District and Clarkdale-Jerome School District both announced on Monday, Jan. 25 that school would be closed for in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Both reopened for in-person learning on Tuesday Jan. 19 after being remote since December for winter break and to allow for vaccinations of staff and teachers.

“The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area with anticipated snow levels down to 2000 feet,” COCSD Superintendent Steve King. “Due to adverse weather conditions, Cottonwood Oak Creek School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021. This includes all preschool programs, after school care, RISE and Bridgeway… There is a possibility it could continue into Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. We will continue to keep you updated if conditions change.”

Camp Verde Unified School District, which has been open for several weeks for in-person learning, did not make a decision by Monday night, announced Tuesday morning that it would be closed for the day.

“Due to current weather conditions, busses will not run today, and instruction will be remote,” Camp Verde Superintendent Danny Howe wrote on Camp Verde Middle School’s Facebook page. “Students, please log in to your google classroom.”

Mingus Union High School District has continued in remote learning for several weeks with no date set for a return to in-person learning, and was therefore not affected by the snow.
