Man and teen shot at Maverick gas station in Camp Verde

Published:

On Tuesday, Oct. 27, at approximately 8:20 PM, Camp Verde Marshal’s Office deputies responded to shots fired outside the Maverik convenience store in the 500 block of Finnie Flat Road.

Upon arrival, the investigating officer found that the two people shot, a 23-year old Sedona man, Christian Michael Price, and a 14-year old Camp Verde boy, had already left the area.

Upon review of surveillance video, Price pulled up to the gas pumps, got out and began filling up when he was approached by two male subjects on foot, one of those being the 14-year-old boy who was later shot.

Video showed that some type of confrontation had occurred between Price and the 14-year-old boy. Shortly afterward, the boy pulled out a handgun and began firing at Price. Price also pulled out a gun and returned fire. Both subjects were struck and retreated.

Price was able to make it back to his vehicle and drove off. The  boy stumbled to the sidewalk area outside the store. Further footage shows that a vehicle pulled up in front of the store and the occupants got the boy into the vehicle and drove off.

Price was later found outside a Circle K convenience store a few blocks away and treated by medical personnel. The boy, with the assistance of the Yavapai Apache Police Department, was located on the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

Both Price and the boy were later airlifted to separate Phoenix hospitals for further treatment. The extent of the injuries were not known at the time of this release.

This is an on-going investigation and follow-up is being conducted by the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office Investigations Unit along with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
