Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District Superintendent Steve King sent the following message to the press and COCSD families:
“COCSD became aware of a situation on a food delivery bus with a possible COVID-19 exposure. Administration became aware of the positive result on Thursday evening, June 25 , 2020. This bus route delivered approximately 40 meals per day. It is Route #2 in the Cornville area. The district is advising families along the route to self-monitor by taking their temperatures twice a day and to keep an eye on other respiratory symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath and sore throat until 14 days after, June 26th, 2020.
“Based on information from authorities and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the students who received the lunches from the bus have a low risk of exposure. Out of an abundance of caution, we are in the process of notifying those families who may have received a lunch from this bus. We have also suspended food delivery services until Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 and will keep you updated.
“COVID-19 is very real and is now in our community and we encourage people to do their part by washing their hands, physical distancing when possible, please be responsible when in public. Superintendent King urges our community to take reasonable precautions for their safety and health. We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available. We will continue to provide you with updates as information changes through School messenger, texts, e-mails, Facebook and the website.
