Gene Eleanor Birkeland, 97, of Cottonwood, died Jan. 5.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and sister.
She is survived by her son Eric [Susan] Birkeland of Covina, Calif., and her daughter Judith [Ed] Young of Flagstaff; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a niece.
A memorial service was held for her in Flagstaff. She wished to be buried at sea.
