With the 2018 election in full swing, those vying for seats on the Camp Verde Town Council were asked a variety of questions pertaining to issues facing the town — both today and in the future. Carol German is running for a position on the Camp Verde Town Council.
Q: What makes you qualified for a position on the Town Council?
My No. 1 qualification is caring for people in the Camp Verde community. My experience as a Town Council member for seven plus years has given me the insight to be an effective citizen representative. Additionally, my experience on the Planning and Zoning Commission allowed me to become familiar with town codes and the planning process. I also have a strong background in finance and business management.
Q: What makes Camp Verde great?
The people, their community involvement, the rural atmosphere and Camp Verde’s central location combine to make Camp Verde a desirable location to live, work and play. The people are truly what make Camp Verde great. They tend to be actively involved in school, church and government.
Q: What would be different if you were on the council?
If fortunate enough to be elected to the council, I would continue to be a voice for citizens. To me this means being available and listening to citizens, spending tax payer dollars wisely, protecting private property rights and promoting growth that is complimentary to Camp Verde. I would also encourage the council to place a focus on areas requiring improvement, such as roads and other infrastructure.
Q: What will you do to keep Camp Verde affordable for its residents?
I would encourage town staff to promote affordable housing and the recruitment of businesses that will provide employment opportunities, services and needed revenue that will keep taxes down.
Q: How do you hope to bring in business to Camp Verde?
I believe we need to improve our recruitment efforts to businesses that fit the Camp Verde community and will enhance services to our citizens. In order to accomplish this, our Economic Development and Community Development departments will need to work together to promote our community and recruit desirable businesses that will increase our tax revenues.
