After months of roadwork, representatives from the Arizona Department of Transportation said that construction on State Route 260 is continuing on schedule.
“The $62 million project is still on schedule to wrap up at the end of the year,” ADOT public information officer Ryan Harding wrote in an email. “The major focus right now is building the new westbound lanes from Wilshire to Horseshoe Bend roads and from Cherry Creek Road to the bridge over Cherry Creek.”
Additionally, the ADOT project includes the construction of a 2-mile bike and pedestrian path south of the highway from Wilshire Boulevard to Cherry Creek Road. The paths will connect to the sidewalk at the roundabouts.
“As this entire area is expected to grow over the coming years, this multi-use path gives people living in the nearby neighborhoods more options to move about in that area of town,” Harding wrote.
To make further improvements, ADOT has concrete crews filling in curbs by several roundabouts close to Camp Verde, as well as building a new barrier for the bridge at Cherry Creek Road.
