Strobel to step down as coach, teacher

Published:

Mingus Union High School girls soccer coach Andrea Strobel announced that she will no longer continue at the helm of the team, per personal reasons.

Strobel was the Marauders’ coach during the last two seasons, amassing a 13-14 overall record and qualifying once for the Arizona Interscholastic Association State Championship.

She made the announcement to the team at the team’s banquet on March 8.

“I told the girls at the banquet that I didn’t want to leave,” Strobel said. “But I just had too many other personal issues going on.”

She also said that whoever takes the reins for the upcoming season “will be in a good position” since a good group of freshmen will add to a team that returns 12 of 16 players.

Strobel is also leaving her teaching position at the school. Junior varsity coach Lee Canning is stepping down, too.
An open search is going on to replace the two, according to Strobel.
