The Town of Camp Verde last week released a report about what kept its town departments busy last month.
Several projects in the pipeline required the attention of the building department.
In Main Street’s Wingfield Plaza, owner Robbie Allen worked to transform the old Zane Grey Steakhouse next to the plaza into a first-class restaurant that retains some of the historic charm of the old building.
The plaza was the location of the old sutler’s store that provided supplies for the soldiers at Fort Verde and residents in the surrounding area. The new restaurant is named Sutler’s Steakhouse.
Last month the building department visited the site along with fire officials to inspect the restaurant’s fire suppression system to get everything in order for the opening.
The town also reported that the shopping center is now at 100 percent capacity.
The building department also had to look over the state of a recent expansion project over at American Heritage Academy, giving them a temporary permit for occupancy pending road improvements to make fire access easier.
In another school-related project, the building department met with the owners of the old Chester Newton Montessori School to begin returning old classroom buildings back into residences.
