Author’s forum set for September

Published:

It’s still several weeks out, but the Cottonwood Public Library is gearing up for its annual author’s forum.

The forum, started by the library in 2013, was thought up as a way to showcase the literary talent right here at home.

“This is the first year I’m working with it,” said Kyle Smith, an employee with the library.

Registration for authors to sign up closed last week.

As it stands, this year’s forum includes at least 25 authors from around the region who are going to be in attendance to meet the public and sell their books.

Names on the list include Adrian and Axel Gonzalez-Jaimes to Amber Polo as well as Shirley Isaacson, Melissa Bowersock, Ginny Chanda, William Armstrong, Diane Phelps, Gary Every, Tony Taylor, Doris McFadden, Kathy Peach, Claudette Cleveland, Paul Steffy, Joe Wise, Bill Mann, Louise Sheldon MacDonald, Dianne Hodges, Roger Naylor, Loretta Engelhardt, Sy Brandon, Pat Toth, Benjamin Vance, Shirley Bradley and Rhonda Pallas-Downey.

The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Cottonwood Recreation Center.

“It’s an attempt to get together all our local talent,” Smith said.

Each author will have their own table.

The library has other events scheduled throughout the summer.

“On July 18 we’re having a local comic book artist come teach teens how to draw comic strips, there will be a raffle drawing, too,” Smith said.

That day will also see a book signing by author Kaih Khristé King.
