Superintendent search narrows

Published:

The Camp Verde Unified School District Governing Board is narrowing its search for a new superintendent.

The board has been using the services of the Arizona School Boards Association for help in the search.

The ASBA is a private nonprofit that helps school boards across the state with a variety of services, including searching for new top administrators.

The board met May 27 for more than six hours to go over and discuss what they were looking for in a new district administrator.

Most of that meeting was held in executive session, a private process to examine each potential candidate’s employment history and possibility for employment.

Superintendent Amber Lee turned in her letter of resignation earlier this year.

Lee had taken over from former Superintendent Dan Brown in 2012.

Brown went to take a position as Deputy Associate Superintendent of School Improvement and Intervention with the Arizona Department of Education.

Prior to taking over the top administrative spot, Lee had served the Camp Verde Unified School District as director of student services.

Lee has been with the school district since 2002.

Before coming to Camp Verde, Lee worked with the Payson Unified School District, the Yuma School District No. 1 and the Crane School District in Yuma.
