Runners seek to follow Cowboys throwers to State

Published:

Incoming senior Viola Logston set the example in the state field championships last season that her new track coach hopes his runners will follow.

Logston, who broke her old personal record in the shot put to become Division III runner-up her junior year, leads Camp Verde High School, under first-year head coach Michael Prow, into its opening meet Wednesday, March 4, at Wickenburg High School beginning at 3 p.m.

“I know Viola wants to do one better,” Prow said. “She came really close and had a really good season.”

Last year’s Camp Verde Middle School record-holder in the shot put, Matthew Wade, joins junior Alyssa Watkins and seniors Curtis Corder, Ricky King and Michael Malloy among Cowboys throwers who could place at the Division III state track and field championships Sunday, May 9, in Mesa.
