A sinkhole in the roadway that closed State Route 89A at the Oak Creek Canyon switchbacks has been filled, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The highway was closed in both directions between mileposts 387-390, north of Sedona. Motorists used Interstate 17 as an alternate route.
“The actual sinkhole is located at approximately milepost 287, below the switchbacks,” according to Sedona City Manager Tim Ernster.
The closure was in place through Tuesday, Feb. 10.
